Huey Remixed 1967: Huey Must Be Set Free #1

On November 23, 1967 in Oakland, CA (USA), a picture of Huey P. Newton in a rattan chair accompanied by the headline: HUEY MUST BE SET FREE , was published the front-page of The Black Panther, Volume I, Number 6.

“From the start, Newton and the Black Panther Party viewed the trial as a political contest rather than merely a legal proceeding. The Party put out the sixth issue of its newspaper with the picture of Huey in his wicker throne on the front page and the bold headline, “Huey Must Be Set Free!” (Bloom and Martin, 2012, p 101)
