Course Leader Major Graphic Design BA (2010-2016)

From August 2010 until August 2016, Mark was course leader of the Major Graphic Design (BA) at the Willem de Kooning Academy, Rotterdam. As Graphic Design is one of the largest departments within the WdKA, this job was together with a partner; with Britt Möricke (2010-12) and Gabriëlle Marks (2012-16).

 

Activities include: curriculum development, creating and managing teacher team, chairing graduation committee and mid-term/ end-of-year assessments, profiling the department, giving lectures and introductions during Open Days, identifying the future practice during public events and with external stakeholders and professional field, coordinating external design projects.

As part of this job, Mark was asked to join the Curriculum Development Team that designed the Interdisciplinary Project-based Education-model.

Member Curriculum Development Team for Inter­disciplinary Project-based Educational Model (2012-2013)

Implementing the educational model on curriculum: planning, assesments, learning trajectories, teacher teams & student group dynamics; Presenting this model to international peers @ MICA (Baltimore, USA) & Emily Carr (Vancouver, CA) (2013).

Conceptualising, developing and writing/designing educational framework of the issue-driven interdisciplinary project-based curriculum in general and the role of Graphic Design in particular.

Activities include: writing, curriculum development in relation to competencies, defining learning trajectory, BoKS, teaching roles, projectplanning and assessment methods.
