Huey Remixed 2020: BBP Legacy Keepers

On August 23, 2020 in West Oakland, CA (US), a photograph of an empty rattan chair with flowers, was posted on the Instagram account of Blackpantherpartylegacy.

On August 22, 1989, Newton was murdered in the neighbourhood of Lower Bottoms in West Oakland, California. […] Newton’s funeral was held at Allen Temple Baptist Church […] Some 1,300 mourners were accommodated inside, and another 500 to 600 listened to the service from outside. Newton’s achievements in civil rights and work on behalf of black children and families with the Black Panther Party were celebrated. Newton’s body was cremated, and his ashes were interred at Evergreen Cemetery in Oakland.” (Wikipedia)

The picture posted on Instagram on August 23, could have possibly been taken on August 22, as a commemoration of the death of Huey Newton 31 years ago.

“Yes this is THE chair Huey Sat in that impacted the whole world right here from Oakland . Above in the picture is Huey Nephew and also Huey wife Mrs. Newton the Queen . Please follow @hueypnewtonfoundation and give her some love yall tell then I sent you .”
