We are excited to inform you that ‘Huey Remixed: The Timeline. A History of Reproductions and Appropriations of the Iconic Image of Huey P. Newton in a Rattan Chair.’ is available to the public. Years of research into the many copies, versions and remixes of the iconic image of Huey P. Newton sitting in a rattan chair, have resulted into this first volume, titled The Timeline. This book presents more than 150 pieces of found footage of the famous image in a chronological order and as a repetitive sequence.

‘Huey Remixed’ is an ongoing research project that collects, organizes, and analyses the remixes of the iconic image of Huey P. Newton sitting in a rattan chair. Seeing this image as a case study, the research project aims to deconstruct the principles of remix in art, design and visual culture. This database of found footage serves as the foundation for further understanding of the principles of remix as a creative practice. In the upcoming volumes, we will investigate the role of the original and the copy in remix, the relationship between author and audience, the progression and regression of meaning and the concept of rewriting history through the art of remix.
